Day 3 as good as it gets!

The last of three days of Bottlerock 2025 is here. As usual, loads of bands on from noon till 10. Allen Stone, Grace Bowers, Bella Rayne, Khruangbin, Vacations, Moonalice, The War and Treaty, Goose, Noah Kahan, Chaparelle, Robby Krieger, Cage the Elephant and more!

On this day of Bottlerock there were friends I had arranged to meet up with and I decided to take it easy(er). Instead of running from stage to stage, I people watched and hung with friends in between a few certain acts I aimed to catch. I was really looking forward the the last two acts of the weekend, which for me, were Cage the Elephant and Robby Krieger.

Today, whilst entering the grounds I heard the band Eggy doing an Elton John song so I went towards the EJ song at the Prudential stage. I then went to see the band Goose. I had heard a few Goose tunes on the radio and for some reason thought it was a singer songwriter style of music. I was wrong. It was a jam band. For those of you who are into jam bands, check them out as you may like them. Those of you who don't favor the jammie thing I wouldn't suggest this band. Not saying they weren't good, just stating the fact that they are indeed a jam band. The first two songs lasted around 30 minutes! It felt like a lifetime waiting to go to the next act but like I said, it's only because I'm simply not a jam band person.

Then I met some friends over at the Prudential stage and the band on that stage was

Chaparelle. Very twangy and country like band. Another that didn't strike a chord with me but for those of you who do like the twang, you may indeed like their music.

Next, I wanted to see and photograph Cage the Elephant. Cage and Noah Kahan were conflicting in start times so I had to chose, and Cage won. Cage the Elephants' lead singer, Matt Schultz reminds me of a young Mick Jagger as he runs around the stage and for a photographer, this is the best type to shoot. Matt Schultz did not dissappoint!

He was great to shoot and I do like their music too. So it was a win win set for me. In fact when I was going through my photos and saw that I captured a jump of Schultz I was thrilled! Any photographer will know this feeling of actually getting THAT moment in the lens! After half of the Cage set, I went over to the Prudential stage to spend the last hour of my weekend with an original Doors member and the co writer with Jim Morrison, of much of the Doors music. 79 year old, Guitarist and songwriter Robby Krieger and his band.

The Bottlerock weekend was fun, safe and friendly. As far as I know there was no mishaps or violence. Although it's very alcohol driven in many ways, I saw no awkwardly drunken-ness behavior in the crowd. And I was in the crowd a lot. Everyone was friendly and having a good time from what I saw. I saw a lot of familiar faces and met new ones along the way. As I have been attending this event from when it began (apart from a couple years), it always feels like home when i enter the Napa Valley Expo Park. It's very well run and feels like a safe place to enjoy a weekend of great music. ©Cheryl Alterman Photography 2025
