Beatles Reunion Concert Just Announced!

April 1, 2025. 😜

April Fools Day...Does anyone actually know where and why this 'holiday' came to be? I looked into it and there are several different theories floating around and they're all different depending on where you're looking. Other than it started in the 1500's in France, I couldn't get one common theory. So I couldn't pinpoint exactly why we celebrate this day of pranks and jokes but in these seriously dark, toxic, scary and uncertain times...anything on the lighter side is very much appreciated! So I welcome this day!

I don't know if you've ever had an April Fools Day prank pulled on you personally but a few years ago on April Fools Day, I was the subject of a prank pulled off seamlessly at the radio station I worked at, Wine Country Radio (KRSH). One of the DJs at the time, Brandon, decided that I was the perfect 'victim' for his elaborate (and expertly executed) prank. Whilst I was out on a call, Brandon placed a recording device (his phone) high above my desk, and when the staff saw me enter the building Brandon pushed play on his device. Apparently he made a looped recording the night before of scary voices calling my name in a very "ghostly" manner. So, I came in, sat at my desk and started hearing this recording. I didn't know where it was coming from and everyone at the station was involved so they all played dumb making me think that I was the only one in the building that was hearing it! Needless to say, I was sufficiently freaked out and my work mates had a great laugh. When it was all said and done and Brandon showed me what he had done, I too had a laugh! Another fine example of, anything that makes one laugh is golden! Even if it's at ones self.

Most of the Wine Country Radio crew from a decade ago,  'Big Dave' far right. (Bill Bowker absent).

Yesterday, when I began writing this story for today's holiday. I figured I'd announce a band that we wish we could see, but for whatever reason, they are no longer together. Simply to provide a little levity and musical happiness and even a bit of dreamy-ness to your day. It would be written as if they would be happening (for April Fools). As indicated in the title of this post. Then it all went sideways and I'm writing this malarkey instead. The concert in question couldn't ever happen due to a deceased member or a split in the band or both. And then I started thinking about it, (dreaming really) wouldn't it be great to see bands like The Kinks, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, RUSH, Ramones, Talking Heads, The Carpenters, Freddie Mercury with Queen, Bob Marley, Bowie, and The (original) WHO with Moonie and Entwhistle. And not to exclude many of you who may like to see Jerry again with the Grateful Dead. Thoughts like these took over my April fools Day.

Then this morning I opened up a newsletter from another friend from those Wine Country Radio days, David Gross, (he too was in on the prank above). His April Fools issue newsletter of "Punmaster MusicWire" was a very similar idea to my 'bands that we will never see'. ("Great minds think alike")! So here I am dreaming of concerts that cannot happen, ever! But what we can do is tune into Big Daves' radio show - Rockabilly Roadhouse on Saturdays 9-11am, 95.9fm.

And regarding the Beatles Reunion show....If John and George were still alive wouldn't that be a fab reunion concert? I bet you've imagined it. Or if you're a drum fan like me, what if you got to see Neal Peart, John Bonham, Karen Carpenter or my absolute fave of all time, Keith Moon play today and got to see them in person on a stage in front of our very eyes! If that would happen, even for one show, it would be my happy place for sure.

Paul McCartney kinda did that in 2022 on his "Got Back Tour". He showed video footage of his deceased bandmates John and George and sang along with them on a massive screen behind him on stage. Those moments were truly very special for me. I felt like I nearly saw the Beatles all together, live. That was a super special show because Paul kinda resurrected George and John for one evening and I was there to experience it. I'll always remember that show because of those moments when this "Got Back" tour gifted us these memories.

And what would The Ramones be like today? Or Keith Moon? Or ....fill in the blank. We remember our loved ones who have passed, our Mums, Dads, Grandparents etc. And remember some of the artists that are also no longer with us. But wouldn't it be sweet if there was such a thing as a reunion concert with some of our faves coming back for a show. Imagine being at a Doors show with none other than Jim Morrison standing in front of you, or I picture myself watching Moonie with The Who, or another great drummer that passed more recently, Neal Peart who I never got to witness his playing in person, with bandmates Geddy and Alex, or John Bonham with Page and Plant. Or what if bands like The Ramones were still alive and touring.

Before switching on the news and all the horrible things that are happening, I'm going to sit with lovely thoughts of seeing bands I missed, or I do miss and what it would be like if I were to attend (or even better-shoot the show), if it were today. Isn't that a sweet thought? So, when the news gets you down, think happy thoughts of being present at a live performance of one of the music greats that you miss seeing or always wanted to. Imagine being at that gig! When you do, your day gets a whole lot more pleasant! Hoping everyone has had a fun April Fools Day and the pranks were harmless. Now more than ever....always try to remember..."Life is short...break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, meditate often, be kind to each other, and never regret anything that made you smile or laugh". And of course...see live music!

With peace, love, art and music,

Cheryl   ❤️🎵
